Baptismal Preparations
Baptism is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month. Please call the Parish Office to set up a time to meet with the priest to complete paperwork and obtain Godparent forms. You will choose 1 godmother and 1 godfather. If they are Catholic (one has to be a practicing Catholic in good standing) they will need to have their parish sign off on the Godparent Form or one that their church issues. Holy Family Parishioners should be actively attending mass when requesting to be a sponsor. *Note: A Christian witness is a person of another faith. It is not a non-practicing Catholic.
Parents and Godparents will also be required to attend a Baptism Class. Classes are held on the first Sunday of each month at 12:15 in the Parish Center. Class is held on the 2nd floor in Meeting Room 2 and is approximately one hour long.
In order to act as a Godparent for Baptism, one must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Specifically this means:
- Mass attendance every Sunday (Exodus 20:8)
- Striving to live the moral precepts of the Church
- If married, a valid marriage in the Catholic Church
If the chosen Godparent is a member of another parish, a Certificate of Eligibility should be obtained from the pastor of their home parish, verifying their status as practicing Catholics within their community.
If you have been asked to be a godparent and meet all of the above criteria please complete the below form and return to the parish office.
